I can understand that, with "Killing because of a word, ridiculous." i meant that, for whatever reason/in whatever circumstance, a word should never be the reason to kill someone.

The black guy didnt hit the guy with the intention of killing him of course, but do you know what i mean?

In this case, the punch was probably even justified.
