I think it is a bit more complicated than this unfortunately because she could say the state was in charge of the investigation and that she unknowingly went along with its conclusions and as I'm familiar with the subject in most cases the state legal system is immunized against all legal forms of being sued financially. So what's going to happen is the guy is going to be let out of prison at the entryway, he will be given a firm handshake with a pat on the back followed by an official apology, given the minimum amount of money for his troubles, a weekly local media publicity stunt covering his story, and then shortly after that will be forgotten entirely.
