You didn't mention any specific medication, but I will warn you that going cold turkey off some of them isn't fun. I'm speaking from personnel experience. It's somewhat ironic that anti psychotics, SSRIs, and atypical antidepressants can cause psychotic episodes when you quit. A lot of violent episodes (such as Elliot Rogers and Laval Hall) are done by people who are heavily medicated. The most common violent result of a psychotic break is suicide.
They also tend to murder your sexuality. This is the main reason people quit. Long term use tends to cause body dysmorphia. Common complaints of long term use include feeling wrong in your body/it's not your body (frequently leading to self mutilation) and not recognizing yourself in the mirror.
I'll point out that if you have been taking the medication for six months and are still having symptoms then the medication isn't helping. Get a pill cutter and ween yourself off the medication over a period of ten weeks.
A little google fu gives the impression that alcohol is safe for use with SSRIs but is not encouraged. Anti psychotics and atypical antidepressants are not.
