I'm grossed by the way women in anime are drawn but this post is not about depictions of big breasts but more so body proportions.

Their arms are super thin, shoulders are super tiny, faces are always drawn to look babylike compared to male characters who often look adult. Why does anime have tough time to draw normal women with normal proportions?

Anime is an idealized fictional representation of reality. Most characters have unrealistic bodies male and female. I really don’t see the issue with it

Look at Baki and jojo characters. Is it unrealistic? Yes. But it’s still fun to watch.

If all the characters were realistic anime wouldn’t be as fun to watch. I want to watch fantasy not reality

I would love to read a work about the genesis of the anime look. Did Japanese comic artists study white faces or is it just coincidental. Many questions I have.

I've seen "How to draw anime", but I don't care about that. Everything has a beginning. Anime has been around since the 80s. I can convince of that Japanese artists were receiving printed newspapers and magazines from overseas and maybe got inspired from those. But I have no idea.
