I love this forum, but it can be addicting.

For example, having somebody reply to your post or comment on your thread may release excessive levels of dopamine.

As such, some members don't put much thought into what they're writing, and end up commenting anything edgy to grab some attention and satiate their brains. Not that I oppose this style necessarily; it's just an observation.

I also noticed threads which have the most replies are the shitpost ones, or the ones about Chads and Stacies living their lives. The essays and thoughtful posts are usually ignored, probably because the average member has a short attention span (believe it or not, if you made it to this line you're part of the 1%; good on you).

As an ADHDcel, even I struggle to overcome impulsivity. Sometimes I'll write a few lines, delete them all and search for another thread wherein my two cents will be meaningful. I get that waking up to no replies can be demotivating, but for the sake of this forum we have to post effortfully and intelligently. Cool it with the shitposts and edgy comments in general.

I just voted yes without reading

Here, have a reaction kind stranger! :soy::soy:

we should try to put more thought into our posts

It rewards shitposting, trolling, and low effort posting.

Doesn't have to be that way, but I guess it's good for traffic and ad revenue.

Good observation, I agree

Postmaxxing and its consequances have been a disaster for this forum.
it rewards and encourages spaming for attention, and it brings down the level of conversation on this forum, why waste time and effort writing something meaningfull, when you can spam one word post and get le funny colours? Or why make thought-provoking threads? When you can rehearse same talking points over and over and get more attention for that.

It rewards mostly traits that make you socially successful in real life. I assure you that the most popular users here are also well socially adjusted irl.

I'll release bits today.,,

I think it depends. Let's say that it takes you X minutes to write a single, high-effort post. In X minutes you can also write 5 low-effort posts.

You could argue that if someone invests X into a high-effort post, then their dopamine/minute ROI may be greater than the alternative.

I notice that with myself; although I check this forum to pass the time, when I interact here I do it with intention.

And yet I still shamelessly seek dopamine. Does that make me impulsive?
