I come back from the gym as usual, and when i enter my house I run into my mother and she asks me "where were you and who were you with?" so I show her the disgusting fluorescent Basic Fit bag, and she replies "don't take me for an idiot, I know nobody goes that much to the gym, Who were you with? Don't lie to me." I didn't even know what to say. She thinks I was probably drinking or doing drugs with friends, but I don't even have a friend. I thought she'd have realized that. I feel awful, I really wish she were right but it's impossible

My condolences, LMAO. I've gone through that a few times in my life, but I think after the sixth or seventh time of my mother being affirmed that I wasn't doing anything important, she started to somewhat get disappointed that I wasn't doing anything. I presume she expected me to be a 'normal teenager' that would go out and do things on his own—developing some sense of identity and independence in the world.

Obviously, though, that never came to be—although I should say that I developed a sense of individuality just fine... Regardless, maybe your own mother truthfully wants to believe that you're doing something like that?
