Does complimenting women work anymore?

In the past it's true that complimenting women on their beauty could be enough to get them but it seems from my experience all it does is make the whores feel better about themselves as they reject you. It's such an emasculating feeling to compliment a woman and then be rejected by her because you're not worthy.
