Does anyone else notice that you’ve gotten higher IQ on video games as you got older?

Tasks in games that I struggled with when I was younger I seem to stomp easily since getting older, and I face the tasks far more intelligently than I once did, and die FAR less. It really does show you your brain development.

I just beat NFS MW 2005 yesterday without much difficulties while i struggled hard when i was a teen and never finished it. Last race was laughably easy.

Polar opposite for me.

I pretty much stopped playing video games though because they're just to difficult for me these days due to my rapidly declining cognitive ability, and I lose interest like 15 minutes after starting.

You're still quite young so it makes sense you're smarter than you were 5 years ago, when your brain was still developing.

At my age you only get dumber, and have been on the decline for quite a long time.

Yes but it only really works with turn based RPGs. When I replay and old one my brain opens up the library of knowledge I didn't have as a kid and makes it a whole new fresh experience. Good way to debunk people that cry nostalgia for anything old.

Yeah same here, it's since we've sort of mentally learned the "rhythm" which helps condition your brain in various aspects & metrics. Obviously, there's only so many ways video games can have these "rhythms" present, and since we LDAR a lot it means that we will have all the time in the world to learn these.

Same, though that could also be because I am not playing as much and only remembering the times when I was winning as a kid.
