Why does everything have to be about being 4K capable?
I play on 720p even though I have a 1080p monitor and I actually prefer it because everything gets stretched.

not really i play at 1440p but I don't mind 720p or lower as long as im having fun and i typically run games at the l owest settings for the best fps
It depends. For some really old games like Dungeon Keeper II that do not go above 800x600 they look really bad on modern monitors.
1440p is good, anything above it is kind of pointless and destroys your fps
