@Mainländer I have flip-flops but high inhib to wear them outside, and good sneakers are expensive here, however I might buy them when I get my wage.

I wear them outside all the time, it's common here to do so anyway. The bad part is having to wash your feet when you go back home.
@Mainländer I am in eu right now, and I have not seen anyone here with flip-flops outside, maybe because of the colder climate. Even in curryland, the affluent classes ( rich and upper middle class) lookdown upon wearing flip flops outside. however it's common among the poor to wear them.

Yeah, wearing flip-flops outside seems rare in Europe indeed. Even during the summer I spent in Germany I didn't see anyone wearing them. I did though, all the time. Even through autumn, but then it eventually got cold enough that my feet hurt so I stopped.

Define formal. I have a pair of Chukka boots with a leather sole, I would consider them to be casual but they are certainly more formal than sneakers (worn by most people).

I don't wear any clothes I can't properly run, climb or fight in. It's why I don't like wearing suits also.
