I use tor for searching torrents and at some point browsing .co on campus. Yes the US government will know whatever you are trying to browse if they want to, but the purpose of using tor is to prevent a random self-claimed teenager "hacker" who just learned Cybersecurity 101 or your cucked company/uni from stealing your information.
