I don't think they are bluffing. However I do think its hypocritical overall.

Most men do end up paying for womens time, whether its paying on the date, or buying gifts. Most relationships absolutely are transactional. Women openly talk about how they wouldn't date men who make less than X amount, etc.

Basically all women are prostitutes, but they don't want you to be a customer of a honest prostitute.
