While @Sergeantincel defines incel in it's most generic and literal sense as "involuntary celibate" (i.e., "Person who is not in a relationship nor has had sex in a significant amount of time, despite numerous attempts to do so" -- from the Terminology sticky), IncelTears claims that a DEFINING pre-requisite of Incel identity is misogyny. Many outside observers echo this perspective. But how many of you would agree with that?
Obviously, various forms of misogyny are regularly espoused here (and cooked into the blackpill jargon, e.g., "FHO") for unsurprising reasons, but IMO most of it is said ironically or in jest. Is unironic misogyny the critical distinction between "Incel" and someone whose just a virgin or self-identifies as "FA?" Does not hating women disqualify you from self-identifying as "incel" or any claims to be "blackpilled?"
There's a clear interest for a subreddit devoted entirely to ridiculing a community substantially made up of virgins with mental health issues to want to paint them as a hate group, but would you agree with the characterization?
