I think in life I learned to keep distance from others because a) most adults aren't super keen to form new friendships anyway and b) because of that, I kind of started to copy them and not form them either.
Also regarding a forum like this one... it's hard to make friends here or on many other online communities because they're quite persecuted by the state. So people are hesitant to reveal their real identities.

People distanced themselves over very very silly reasons.
Personally I think it was less about the stated reason and more that they were just growing up and changing as people, so I was no longer the type of person they wanted as a friend.
