I personally think this is the truth on all levels.
Men need women for affection, romance and sex purposes. Men are the romantic gender, they are the ones who always need to make the first move, and take action. They are tho ones who try to impress women.
Meanwhile, women don't feel the same need. If they did, they would chase almost all men, not just the 1% of men.
