I’m specifically speaking on service workers. There is this consistent thing I’ve been experienced for years and nothing has really changed. Right in front of my eyes I would see cashiers initiate small talk with a normie, compliment them, etc. However, once I am next in line, their expressions show signs of disgust, disinterest, and I can tell they just try to disassociate from the situation, most likely to avoid thinking about or seeing my face.
I’m just coming back from a clothing store and I don’t know but this specific encounter really made think about how repulsive I look. As I’ve said before these cashiers usually make small talk with other customers and this old lady in this encounter did exactly that. When I came up to the counter, she looked at me for 5 seconds, a look of confusion. Like she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. It took her around 10 seconds to finally ring my things up and throughout the encounter she would constantly look at me with disgust and would glance to her coworker signalling “Am I really seeing this?” type of thing. This hurts me more than people telling me I’m just ugly to be honest with you.
I’ve also had multiple experience where service workers would say, “you look tired” (keyword for your eyes are sunken and your maxilla is recessed), “you look like a zombie”, and people simply saying “why do you look like that”
I also think I did have a harder time finding jobs (when I did work) and the employers would also share these same reactions I get.
You don’t have to ask if its over, people will tell you indirectly
