But there are guns in the world, so questions about "should there be gun ownership rights?" Are really always a Trojan horse for "should we take away gun ownership rights?"

I'm in New Zealand, you may remember New Zealand, it's the country where the city Christchurch is. Christchurch is the city where weirdo Australian misfit Brenton Tarrant decided it would be a good idea to kill a whole lot of Muslims who were basically minding their own God damn business and paying their taxes. He was able to do this because he got approved for a license to own guns and buy ammo by our completely fucken useless pig police force based on "character references" from randos who had never met him, who he talked to in some gun-loving, huntin' and fishin' and killin' type outdoor lifestyle forum.

After he did that we had a fit of national hand-wringing, and the result of that was that it was made illegal to own semi-autos. So everyone who owned a semi-auto was forced to hand it over at the police station, and if you fill out the paper form you could claim back about 10% of its value. Only an evil gun-loving Islamophobe would have a problem with that, right?

So all of the honest people handed in their semi-autos, and now no honest people in New Zealand have semi-autos. Only criminals and the gangs have them. Awesome! I feel safer already.
