i take it once in a blue moon for when i absolutely have to talk in class (presentations, etc) and while it does eliminate anxiety very well, it also makes me quite drowsy and i am surprised to see that people actually take it recreationally.

Benzos will never completely kill your social anxiety though. The best cure for social anxiety is having no ego. And having no ego is possible only with religious belief.
