Men work to attract females imo.
That was the whole point of feminism; they sought to liberate themselves from being stuck with undesirable men out of economic necessity. They would rather work long, soul-crushing hours for 40+ years while riding the chad carousel than have everything provided for by stable beta males.
In response to this, would-be beta males have started to ditch stressful jobs for laid-back ones (if they work at all), knowing that it's not worth it to work themselves into an early grave when they have no hope of having a sexually-fulfilling life or a family of their own. No sexual or genetic stake in society = no reason to work any harder than is required for survival.

What's happening is that young women are preffered to young men in the workface.
The only jobs that favour young men and don't discriminate today are blue collar hard physical labour, but foids call such men "scrotes" or "losers".
