Simply stating that "I think looks play a much bigger role than most people would think" is such a displeasing statement to hear, that instead of talking about it people would rather outright deny it. Also it didn't come off like complaining when Wheat Waffles did it, because he's not a bad looking guy at all.
But most people would rather live in delusion than face uncomfortable truths. Even when we know that looks matter, we don't want to hear how it affects our destiny. People want to think that anyone - regardless of their looks or genes - can become successful. Whether relationshipwise, career-wise or otherwise. But that's simply not the case.
