I was in HS a year or so after ER incident, so the term and communities did exist, but they were quite obscure unlike now.

Quite well actually, since all of us were basically isolated from the rest of the school due to physical or mental problems. It was kind of liberating knowing it's not your fault, so now you can just live your life.
