It’s absurd. These types have never had to struggle the way those of us at the bottom have, yet they have the gall to lecture us.
And there are so many people who will never understand this. They have no way to put themselves in our shoes, so they tell us to stop being so negative and work more towards self improvement as if all the effort in the world would make up for our lack of looks. They think we can have as much as the people nature favored if we just try hard enough, but they’re wrong and they know it deep down—we’re just less than all these people.
It seems to me that part of the reason so many successful people preach about hard work is rooted in a self-justifying mindset. They prefer to believe that their success is solely the result of their own efforts rather than luck or genetics. This belief in a just world, where hard work is always rewarded, allows them to take full credit for their achievements. It also gives them a convenient way to dismiss the struggles of others, it allows them to tell those who suffer to simply work harder. In doing so, they shift all the blame onto us.
