Whenever female passengers wanted to go exploring during a stop in Mexico or Brazil, they'd cut the bullshit and warn them of the real dangers. Have permission to carry a gun, travel with male companions, and stay the fuck out of the slums. They warned them of how many female passengers have went missing after leaving the ship.

It's a good point that you raise. AFAIK, many of these "s... downloaded for free" are illegal, like pedophile materials, many of the gore, extreme violence, torrents, "copy rights infringements", etc. Even in the US.
Especially, that now US Customs can access your computer material and social media accounts, if you're caught with some of this "innocent" stuff, you are sure to pay a huge fine and/or have a good time in jail, denied entry for a long period to the US, and deported.
