Same actually cause they're not like psychedelics or dissociatives. Deliriants work by blocking acetylcholine which are like for memory, attention, and basic cognitive coherence. That’s why the experience feels so alien cause you’re awake but cognitively dismantled.
Maybe for someone deeply depressed, deliriants are more so a descent into something worse than their baseline. Total confusion, fear, ego death. But when it wears off, their normal reality, empty, grey, painful suddenly feels coherent again and livable. It’s not that they want the experience, it’s that the aftermath gives contrast. Maybe that's why people use them, makes sense, to make them feel better about their own life
