Low birth rate leads to aging population, which results in massive tax burden on the shrinking younger generation to support the old. That means even if houses get cheaper, the state bleeds you dry through taxation and inflation. Also, cost of living isn't necessarily the reason the birth rate is low (poorest countries have higher birth rates), and you would still have to somehow deal with hypergamy, feminism, and the myriad of subversive ideologies.

Take for example Japan, which has cheap housing in general, yet a very low birth rate.

Japan has cheap housing? I have heard that they have a hard time even finding an apartment and they are very expensive as well.
Space is scarce in Japan.

Maybe it's cheap on the outskirts of a city, but not in the inner city.

Also, the value systems promoted today don't help, of course.

Did you know that in Japan, if you buy a standard car, you HAVE TO provide evidence of owning a parking spot or else you can't even register the car and drive it?

There is an exception for K-cars though.

K-cars are awesome, ngl, but Ii am way to big for one.

I have tried sitting in one, irl, as I wanted to buy one.
It is a Suzuki Ignis. The new one. People dislike it, but I find the car really cool.

I like small things and minimalism in general. I like it simple and effective, you know.

But damn it, it is so super claustrophobic in that car for me... .

Major suifuel because I legit like everything about the car. );
But the japanese k-cars are so well built and you get so much for little money.
Very practical little machines.
