I was reading a thread on CuckIt that was hating on people using suicide threats as a way to get back an ex.
What's incredible is that at no point, someone said that maybe the problem was with "dating" itself.
Before the 1850s, no one had "girlfriends". You were engaged (usually on the decision of your parents, who left you more or less choice) to a woman. You were forbidden by Christian morality to touch her in inappropriate ways until marriage. Kissing her on the lips would have been a great scandal. Then you were married for life and couldn't divorce.
"Dating", "GF", "BF", "SO", "divorce", "ex", these are all extremely modern concepts.
