Cyberpunk 2077 is what happens when ambition supersedes ability. Huge open-world environments with shit hit detection, glitching artifacts and dumb-as-hell AI. Think of it as mission creep, where you keep adding features to a project the longer you plan for it. Combine this with the fans' expectations of a game going up exponentially the longer it gets delayed a release.
its because a huge portion of soypunks budget went towards voice acting and mocap scenes, they neglected the actual fucking gameplay (the most important part of a video game jfl).

The video is testing things unrealted to the role-playing elements and only of the modern day world building. So I think the comparison is fair
GTA has a set storyline with set characters, outside of the ending it has very little in common with actual RPG games where you take control of a custom or preset character with multiple choices and outcomes
Just because it's an open world doesn't make it an RPG
you can say all you want that open world flight simulator is an RPG because it's open world but in reality that's only one aspect of what an RPG actually is
GTA is sandbox based, Cyberpunk is story based, they both have two different strengths, and to be frankly honest, Cyberpunk is lightyears ahead in terms of it's attention to world building
You also haven't explained why skyrim isn't an RPG yet
i play it every day still, come play on PC if you like roleplaying as police and cruising at 30mph following traffic laws, its my latest way of having fun on it

Glad to have said I've never bought any new age video games period and no new age AAA games since like 2017 max. Whenever dishonored 2 was released that was my last AAA game I purchased (and it wasn't even very good).

The merit of whether a game is an RPG isn't chalked up to personal opinion, it's based on whether or not it's a game where the player has an influence on the story, no matter how small that may be.
A game can be a shitty RPG with very little choice but it'll still be an RPG

Maybe feel bad for the console players. I'm having a great time with it on pc. There are bugs, but they're being fixed. These sorts of games almost always do have them. I've had to reload a couple times, but I do that in RPGs anyway a lot when I fuck something up.
If it's decent on PC I might pirate it.

Fallout has multiple endings, and it also has an open world, but that's not what holds it's foundation, the foundation is the interactive dialogue, take that away and all you'll have is an action based sandbox game.
