Tbh the British didn't take over India easily, it took them a century or so to tame the subcontinent. The reason they had success is b/c the curry empire at the time the "Mughal Empire" collapsed due to what can be described as a century of civil war. The British were the benefactors of the fighting. Most Pajeet's were fighting and killing each other, and naturally, the British, who needed resources, took advantage of the chaos.
