The benchmark is the Nordid type, but as I said once, the progressive types are mainly different if its about their regional adaptation - obviously a Nordid wouldnt be superior over a indid in tropical India (which might be even problematic for the later) and vice versa.
The temperate, warm and hot-dry climate (if there are disputed oases and fertile regions in particular) is generally speaking best for human developments, the tropical regions are, since early Homonids, rather negative.
Its interesting to compare the distribution of the progressive types with those of the rather primitive ones with the climatic zones of the world.
Tropical humid climates are worst and produce types adapted too very low energy households and reduction (f.e. Bambutids, Negritids, Palaungid Palaemongolids, Palaemelanesids etc.). The competition for the best areas is obviously strongest which leads to higher group selection and progression, whereas the less sought areas are those for the pushed away groups, which were already uglier, weaker in the group selection of better areas most of the time (like Sanids) and degenerate in the poor regions (like the Kalahari) even more.
