It's called 2 simply for being based on the Source 2 engine. No other reason. CSGO was built on the original Source engine, if I recall, but it was intended as an successor (upgrade) to 1.6. It wasn't supposed to be a sequel. This isn't a sequel either, if I'm not mistaken.
There are no sequels to CS. It's just one continuous game.

I've played 1.6, CZ, Source and GO. I mostly play CZ these days tbh as my PC is pretty weak and I'm a boomer so I really don't mind playing it.
