More than 99% of Italy’s coronavirus fatalities were people who suffered from previous medical conditions, according to a study by the country’s national health authority.

After deaths from the virus reached more than 2,500, with a 150% increase in the past week, health authorities have been combing through data to provide clues to help combat the spread of the disease.

The Rome-based institute has examined medical records of about 18% of the country’s coronavirus fatalities, finding that just three victims, or 0.8% of the total, had no previous pathology. Almost half of the victims suffered from at least three prior illnesses and about a fourth had either one or two previous conditions.

Thanks for the stat. I had no idea it was that high. That’s why I hate when the news shows the one person who has no known underlying conditions that died while ignoring the other 500 people who also died. The fearmongering is annoying as well as how people kowtow to authority without question. The most alarming thing I noticed, besides government overreach of course, was the concerted effort to purposefully lie to the public by government officials and the media. They have straight up said face masks won’t help against the virus despite studies saying otherwise. Instead of admitting they don’t want people to buy up all the face masks, they just lied and said they don’t work. I usually dislike when the media is blamed for every little thing, but in the past few weeks I have been shocked by outlets I once thought credible.

Yeah I’ve been saying as much since it started. It’s basically the same virus that causes the common cold but a new strain.
