I watched the first two movies (extended edition) and thought they were fine but they were long as fuck so didn't bother with the third one (I kept delaying it) and now I don't remember anything so I'd have to watch them over again. Same with the Hobbit I watched the first one in the cinema but never watched the sequels when they came out.
I even tried to read the Hobbit book but dropped it because it was feeling boring and I read like 80% of it before moving to something else, thinking it would get better but nope. I read that LOTR book is even more dense than the Hobbit with too much focus on descriptions and songs/poems so I won't even bother.
I'd say is the only big sci-fi/fantasy franchise I've never completed as I watched all the other big ones like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, etc. Also I find it kinda pathetic how tradcaths are obsessed with LOTR just because the author was conservative and Catholic and he threw in some religious symbolism kek.
