A tragic event happened today at the Universidad del Atlántico when the death of Julián Cantillo, a student who threw himself from the sixth floor of Block D in the northern campus, was confirmed. In a heartbreaking message sent to his WhatsApp group, Julián expressed his anguish and offered his apologies to his classmates.

In his message, Julián wrote: “Hello, I think few people here know me. I apologize if what I am about to do cancels any of your classes (I hope not, my stupid life should not be so important). My dad's number is..., his name is Julio Cantillo. I would appreciate it if you could contact him, I don't want my mom to find out first. In the wallet that is in my left pocket is my ID and a note that my relatives have to read, in my bag that is on the 6th floor of Block D.” This message was sent before his fatal death.

Julian was rushed to the Portoazul Clinic and despite efforts to save him, he died shortly after his arrival. As a result of the incident, the university proceeded to evacuate students and staff from the northern campus.
