Bateman is a based actor tbh. Many of his movies would be unwatchable if played by someone else like Equilibrium (2002). And yes his face/body aesthetics have to something to do with it.

The over the top gore scenes and the satire to rich yuppies and their materialist lifestyle make the book worth it. Many found it boring because of the long descriptions but I think it was a very clever way to show how materialistic, superficial and judgemental the characters are. Also there's three chapters that are just music band essays (this was shown very briefly in the movie) that feel like filler but they're alright.

I'm reading it in the bathtub when bored, it's pretty entertaining especially after you already watched the movie And kinda funny & ridiculous, a whole page just to describe some piece of clothing or face cream like some effeminate looksmax user or zoomer. Also blackpilling in a way that no NPC would care about the movie if Bale wasn't in it charisma and looksmogging everyone.
