whats the big deal? I wish we did the same thing. I hate tourists.
How is it a scam ? Restaurants can charge as much as they want and tourists are free to not eat there if they don't like this.

Here in New Zealand we see a lot of expat Koreans, but of course we only see the Koreans who want to travel.
One of my MTN high school buddy boyos went to south Korea on a "teach English in Korea" programme. He probably thought he was going to SEAmaxx with waitu cockuu onry Korean babes. He was wrong about that.
He absolutely hated it. The Korean high school changs he was meant to "teach English" were racist AF, hated whitey, hated going to their English class, and they had absolutely zero respect for him and they made his job hell.
I had to pretend very hard to be sensitive when I listened to his story. But inside I was keking hard.
Koreans seem quite based NGL.

OP is acting like the Japanese are the only ones who pull that shit.
I have been to Russia and when locals see you they immediately recognize you as a tourist and name a higher price for you than for locals.
This is why you always negotiate hard because they will get what they want anyway.
As for restaurants, that has never happened to me.
All menus were exclusively in Russian and since I speak it it was no problem.
Nowadays some may be in English too, or Chinese. jfl
The problem is that depending on where you come from as a tourist, japanese prices can already be high for you but when they make extra high prices for you as a tourist, it will basically be unaffordable for you.
One example is Russia, iirc. For them the usual prices in Japan seem to be high.

Yeah I think asians and slavs are known scammers, basically if your country is low trust society shithole or and you are curry or chink or other brown its scam galore
