This is why the Chinese will win. They are willing to work towards eugenics while the West dare not even articulate this shit for fear of being called racist. The discourse of the West is built on morality while Chinese discourse is built on practicality and results. Also, despite the lack of focus on moral virtue signaling, the Chinese have amazing clarity on what is right. They know how destructive inequality is to the social and economic fabric of a civilization and are therefore willing to work relentlessly towards bio-leninism. This guy was jailed for editing the genes of two baby girls but that penalty hasn't dampened his resolve one bit.

I respect what he's doing but here are my concerns.

1. Gene treatments consequence on fetuses are unknown, even if they gained immunity against one thing, there can be side effects.
2. This doesn't benefit actually living people only those who will be born.
3. Many traits cannot be modified with current technology like facial attractivess or IQ, they also have environmental component resulting in lower IQs, uglier faces or shorter heights.

Nevertheless, it is a good start. Wake me up when he can actually edit the genes of living subhumans to turn them into chad or stacy.

I’m looking forward to this, along with other transhumanist technologies.

However, I’m pretty sure that by the time this technology becomes available to the public (which is unlikely to happen in our lifetime), it will have already been actively used by billionaires to further separate themselves from common people by making themselves übermensch.

Replacing DNA for a fully grown adult with billions of cells is gonna be hard. You're gonna get SupER CancER 3000 if you tried this. Wouldn't think that it's impossible, but it's not near future tech.

Changing DNA for a single egg and sperm would be easy, in fact, doable TODAY.
