Ray Mercer stood toe to toe with Lennox Lewis while the Chad was stopped by Lewis. Mercer actually won a gold medal for boxing in the 1988 Olympics representing the USA. He was also a sergeant in the USA army.

Tommy Morrison, the Chad, took lots of flak for this loss. He was 22 at the time and Mercer, the black fighter was 30. Well, before their fight, Mercer fought a 42 year old Larry Holmes who out boxed him and won a decision. So a 22 year old Morrison got knocked stone cold by a fighter who just lost to a 42 year old, past prime ex champion. And 42 year old Holmes took all of Mercers best shots while 22 year old Morrison folded under the same shots. So his chin was massively exposed in this fight.
