Because if you're ugly and never have success with women anyway, you can use that as a perfect excuse to become religious, so to speak, since sex before marriage is frowned upon anyway, so you're directly a good person, not like the other 90% who look good and live out their sex life like crazy, right?

Yes. Religion is a trade off of control for community. Really it is all a lie, but a lie that'll serve your interests, presuming that you aim to no be alone.

I personally couldn't do it. I'm a sucker for freedom and loneliness makes me happy.
