I see criticism of this character as being one-dimensional, too consumed by rage... but is it possible we just haven't head a proper monologue on his internal philosophy because he was too busy manifesting it?
His frustration with being left behind in the struggle to be a hero just because he lacked innate biological talent seems reminiscient between melvins and chads.
ultimately though he's also a story of being taken away by that rage so much that he fails to realize he accomplished so much with his genius he had a cute girlfriend working for him who he could've been happy with.
Mirage seems to exist as a plot device to make us look down on Syndrome's rebellion though - to be discarded so we have a reason to hate Syndrome and look at him as a hypocrite or illogical... a role similar to Mercy working for Lex Luthor I'd say.
But what if he had treated her well and still carried out his plan for human equality - make everyone super?
