These people are troglodytes. Come out of the cave to the real world and you'll see how the world actually lays. You could have a heart of gold and people would still be mean to you. Just because you help the homeless, the poor, and you're generally a likeable person, doesn't make people like you. How is this hard to understand?
Pointing out some rare exceptions doesn't change anything. If I pointed out that there's a pakistani woman who had acid thrown on her face and she managed to find a loving husband then that must mean that having a disfigured face caused by an acid attack doesn't harm your chances at dating. Right? No, that's bullshit, of course it matters a lot. Even if some people succeed despite the odds against them doesn't mean that the world is just. It doesn't mean you don't go through hardships, even to the point that your looks can RUIN your life.
They don't understand the halo effect. They think they are some special kind of humans that are not in any way affected by the halo effect, that they can see through the facade of good looks. That's not how it works. All humans are affected by it. Its subconscious. Nobody makes the decision that they'll start treating attractive people better and ugly people worse.
