I didn't really care too much since I don't go there often at all really, apparently it's quite common that Tesco gets robbed.

Not really, people who fare evade on public transport when they got stopped by Ticket Inspectors the only thing they can do is just fine them and let them go, which is why they don't bother to stop every individual person as much as just a group of people trying to fare evade.
