How long can they postpone his sentence?

Unclear, though there are reasonable limits (i.e. can't be longer than the prescribed statutory maximum, if the defendant is in custody). The Sixth Amendment speedy trial right detaches upon conviction and does not extend to sentencing. See Betterman v. Montana, 578 U.S. 437 (2016).

I knew him in Instagram circles actually and was in a couple group chats with him. Did not expect anything of this magnitude. I do believe he only ironically called himself an "incel" and memed with ER a lot, but I think he was somewhat sympathetic to incels.
