The radical leader of the Igreja Pentecostal Geração Jesus Cristo, Tupirani da Hora Lores, was sentenced by the Federal Court to 18 years and 6 months in prison for crimes of racism and hatred against Jews. His defense can still appeal to the Court.
In one of the six known attacks, Tupirani said during an online service that Jews "should be [UWSL]humiliated [/UWSL]as they were in World War II."
In this Thursday's ruling (30), the magistrate says that "the defendant used his condition of pastor of a religious community to commit the crime, which increases the potential to induce followers to act in a similar way".
The federal judge adds that "with regard to social conduct, the records showed that the defendant maintains an ostensible behavior of affronts against public institutions", such as insults against Federal Police and the Judiciary.
In addition to the crimes of racism and threat, Tupirani will answer for incitement and apology of crime. If convicted, he could serve a sentence of up to 26 years in prison.
