One of the reasons why the stats of male v female psychopaths are so skewed is that most female psychopaths are being diagnosed as BPD rather than as psychopaths. This also allows them lenient treatment in courts on the basis that they can be medicated out of their pathology.
Psychopathy/sociopathy is a pathology that is VERY easy to confirm. We have excellent diagnostic tools coupled with CAT scan technology which give a 100% spot on confirmation - no guess work. It is perhaps the most easily determined metal disorder of all. Yet more and more of these predators are being tagged as BPD and being allowed a free ticket to hunt at will. If they get caught. They can be "cured". A complete disaster in every way except for the psychopaths.

It’s very real but is often misdiagnosed as depression or bipolar or something else either due to the therapist being inept, not provided enough information by the BPD in question or simply tricked by them since the disorder makes them highly believable world class actresses.

There’s also the case where the therapist doesn’t want to diagnose a person as such for their own good as the negative stigma around the disorder and having to live with an official diagnosis of it can negatively effect employment opportunities.

I had a BPD once hilariously tell me that oh that would never happen to her because there are laws where she’s from preventing such forms of discrimination. As if laws written on a piece of paper are going to stop a fearful and or biased employer from finding and figuring out every single legal and unrelated way that they can to avoid hiring a BPD.

Anyway though OP you make a good point that a fellow Cluster B ie ASPD sociopath/psychopath might try and fraud a lesser diagnosis so they can get around the even greater stigma of being a dangerous unfeeling psychopath and not hired at a job or have people wanting to associate with them for that reason.

As BPD’s at least or some of them anyway can feel empathy and treat most regular people not romantically involved with them or friends with them very well surprisingly as it is close relationships of any kind that trigger all the negatives of the disorder.
