I don't think it will make them poor initially, but later on YES. The middle- upper-middle class might suffer a lot because the way they depend on services through cheap labour of all kinds. There are quite a few socioeconomic classes in India. And they are all important for the country to remain stable in its place. I would estimate that compared to America's vital 3-4 economic classes, India has about 8-9 distinct ones. But unlike America, India can't function even relatively well without all 8-9 of them. That is a 1st world country thing. Not a developing Nation thing.

Precisely the opposite I fear, eventually it will place an increased amount of burden on the small upper class and slightly bigger middle classes who will be forced to absorb the losses. Eventually they will continue to support the massive poverty classes. This can mean no new investments or economic growth, only more squalor. I know. That is going to happen, but BJP means it will happen slower and not to the detriment of the middle-upper classes. The only way to rid CL of its burdening population is a slow burn, a phasing out of servant classes while increasing its development into a 1st-world type nation by simultaneously retraining them to be a part of the new economy. I think it is a lot more likely (and safer) to happen successfully under BJP than under AAP, at least this is the conventional wisdom. If it happens too fast, it benefits everyone less.
