i wouldnt expect a movie directed by a no-name female to be good. nowadays its rare for a movie to be good that isnt directed by a top-tier guy like tarantino, fincher, nolan, scorsese etc. movies directed by females are over 99% of the time shit, exceptions being Point Break and American Psycho

American psycho was only good because of the source material

i agree, it would've been better with a good male director but its still one of the handful movies made by a female that are good. point break was probably good due to james cameron's help (back when he was good)
