Flarum is actually good.
It depends.
I have a soft spot for phpBB as it's used by a lot of old forums and is free as in freedom.
But, we live in modern times. XenForo is used by most modern forums and it's...usable enough.
I would use phpBB however.

Kind of. I used to say I was a Marxist. I no longer believe in "pure" communism as the implementation is next to impossible. It just doesn't work. I now believe in just socialism.

Bogleheads uses this and it's frankly much worse than xenforo (and that's a low bar)
