The 90s by far
2000 decade
Noughties
The late-1990s and 2000s. I think gaming hit its peak in 2007. It has been on a steady decline since then.
Yeah it was... kind of the best of everything.
- no long downloads or updates
- consoles weren't overloaded with silly and unnecessary "features"
- PC didn't have Windows 10 or 11
- graphics and gameplay were solid
- very little censorship
- little to no DEI so the devs were actually talented
and probably more.
The stars aligned in that decade!

Big titles like Max Payne, Halo, Call of duty and Battlefield had their peaks in the 2000's.
The '80s was also a great decade for games I think.

90s, there is simply no debate.
00s without a single doubt all major releases were there, 90s can't compete
Interestingly most of my favourite games are from the noughties, or close.
Phantasy Star Universe, Shenmue, Sonic Adventure 2, Jet Set Radio.
But... usually the ones I put after that are Red Alert 2 and NiGHTS into Dreams, both of which are '90s.

90s had better 2d games so if you hate 3D games the 90s was better.
10's since its the time minecraft and fortnite came out
My vote will probably go back and forth between noughties and nineties!
The '90s has a number of strange curveball advantages.
- arcades were still alive and well
- the culture was amazing, which benefited gaming and everything else
- Sega were around and they were very good, or at least I think so!
and more for sure!
Fortnite itself is good but it has lost consistency and got a shit userbase. But mc servers have lost even more consistency with their mini games, pay to win etc.
2000s without a doubt graphical leaps crazy stories innovation in gameplay 2000s had everything. Also apart from gta halo and call of duty gaming wasn't mainstream and wasnt filled with toilets

All it makes me think of are cringe things and angry children shouting at the TV, lol

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Oblivion, Deus Ex, Arcanum, BG 1 and 2, Planetscape Torment, Far Cry 2, by far 00s to early 10s was the best in my opinion.
most of my fav games came out before 2010 so 90s-2000s.
I know but i always liked 3d games more than 2d. However there are some strategies that are 2d and were still released in 00s. And it's not like very late 90s had no 3d games either one of my fav Parasite Eve 1 (and RIdge Racer 4) was released in 98.

Late 90s-Mid 2000s.
Personal preference some of my favourites like Overwatch.Darksouls,God of war (4) etc came out in the 2010-2020 time

The 2010s had some bangers, but they're too few and far between when compared to all the genre-defining games that were being released in the 90s and 2000s. And all the wokeness and greedy monetisation really soured everything. The 2020s have largely been extension of that trend.
I'd say between 90s to 2000s.
