Being unemployed is the only time I've ever felt happy, yet somehow everyone treats me like a pathetic failure for feeling this way. I like playing video games and watching anime all day, I like doing stuff by myself, going hiking or snowboarding if I could afford it. I quit my job at the end of last year and used what money I had saved to go on a road trip throughout the lower portion of America, visited Canada once as well. It actually felt great. But the second I came back home I'm being called a loser and pathetic by my family, I decided to join the military to get away from it all so my freedom is going away soon but for the last 6 months I've just been trying to have as much fun as I can before i become a slave to the government. But at least I wont have nagging retards telling me how much of a disappointment I am

If you didn't regret it, it was worth it

Your family sounds like the type that wants you to work 72 hours a day for some megacorporation, or for the government. I don't know about joining the military... pondered doing it at 27 years old, because I thought something was wrong with me mentally, and the military would help me become more "mature/masculine" as a person, due to the bile that Jordan Peterson and other influencers used to spill out at the time.

I was unemployed for 5 months in 2021, and I learned more about life in those 5 months than in 5 years. It's a gap in my resume for sure, but I don't regret it.
