At least from the point of view of utilitarianism (maximization of pleasure and minimization of suffering).
Obviously not from the point of view of traditional Judeo-Christian morals, where life is more valued than happiness.
From a utilitarian point of view, a Jew who is shot by a SS in the head ceases to suffer through death. There is no more negative utility accrued.
On the other hand, an ugly man who is left alive suffers non-stop until he dies. Negative utility keeps rising.
Jeremy Bentham would have agreed with me.
